Biography

Jennifer Gierisch, PhD, is a behavioral scientist and health services researcher, currently serving as an Associate Professor in both the Department of Population Health Sciences and the Department of Medicine at Duke University. She is a core investigator at the Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation (ADAPT) and leads the Partnered Research Methods Core (PRESTO). Dr. Gierisch also serves as the Director of the VA OAA Health Services Research Postdoctoral Fellowship and as Co-Director of the Evidence Synthesis Program (VA ESP) within the Durham Veteran Affairs Health Care System. Her research interests include behavioral research focusing on psychosocial factors that influence the uptake and maintenance of complex health behaviors such as weight management, smoking cessation, and cancer screening. Additionally, she emphasizes evidence synthesis on key healthcare topics to enhance the adoption of evidence-based interventions that improve patient outcomes. Dr. Gierisch is experienced in participatory community-engaged research approaches and qualitative research methods. She has served as a faculty director at the Duke Clinical Translational Science Institute's Community Engaged Research Initiative (CeRi) for five years.
