Dr. Jennifer Hadden

Biography

Jennifer Hadden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and at the Watson Institute for Public and International Affairs at Brown University. She earned her Ph.D. from Cornell University’s Department of Government and holds a B.A. with highest honors from Smith College. Dr. Hadden's research primarily focuses on the interplay between politics and climate change, with an emphasis on the role of NGOs and social movements. Her book, titled 'Networks in Contention: Divisive Politics and Global Climate Change,' was published by Cambridge University Press in 2015 and has garnered four book awards from the American Political Science Association and the International Political Science Association. Her research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center, and the Fulbright Fellowship. Dr. Hadden has also published articles in several prestigious journals, including the British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, and Global Environmental Politics. She held an International Affairs Fellowship at the Council on Foreign Relations during the 2015-2016 academic year, which supported her work related to the Paris Climate Conference and the Office of the Special Envoy for Climate Change at the U.S. Department of State.
