Biography

Dr. Jennifer Hedges' research program focuses on social work education in the field of child welfare. Her recent work explores transformative learning experiences that prepare students for working in child welfare while addressing systemic challenges. Her research interests include Critical Feminist Pedagogy, Anti-oppressive Practice, Moral Courage, Social Work Allyship, Relationships, and Child Welfare. Her work is informed by anti-racist and Indigenous perspectives, aiming toward truth and reconciliation in post-secondary social work education. Jennifer has received numerous fellowships and awards, including the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship and the SSRHC Doctoral Award.
