Dr. Jennifer Hochschild

Biography

Jennifer Hochschild is a prominent scholar in the fields of American Politics and African American Studies. She holds the Henry LaBarre Jayne Professorship in Government at Harvard University. Her academic work explores critical issues including political ideology, genomic science, and the dynamics of public trust in science, particularly within the context of racial and ethnic groups in American metropolitan areas. Hochschild has served in significant roles, including as the founding editor of Perspectives on Politics and as co-editor of the American Political Science Review. She has been the President of the American Political Science Association from 2016 to 2017 and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 1996. Her notable publications include 'Genomic Politics' (2021), 'Facts Matter?' (2015), and 'Creating New Racial Order' (2012). She is actively engaged in research focusing on civil society, social movements, education policy, health policy, and race and ethnicity.
