Biography

Jennifer Lambe is an Associate Professor specializing in Latin American and Caribbean history at Brown University. She holds a PhD from Yale University and an AB from Brown University. Her research interests focus on the intersection of political and intellectual history, as well as popular culture, particularly in the Cuban context. Lambe's notable work includes 'Madhouse: Psychiatry and Politics in Cuban History,' published by the University of North Carolina Press in 2017, which explores the history of mental illness and healing in Cuba, particularly the political implications of the Mazorra Mental Asylum. Her forthcoming book, 'Subject Revolution: Political Popular Culture in Cuba', examines how the Cuban Revolution has shaped new worldviews through the lens of political popular culture. Lambe has received numerous awards for her research, including fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. She is actively engaged in scholarly discussions and has co-edited works on revolutionary Cuba.
