Biography

Dr. Jennifer Leighton is a specialist in lower extremity reconstruction surgery with a focus on primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. With a keen interest in orthopaedic trauma, she currently practices at Dartmouth General Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary. A native of Nova Scotia, Dr. Leighton graduated from Dalhousie Medical School and completed her orthopaedic residency training at the University of Calgary. She furthered her expertise with a fellowship in Lower Extremity Reconstruction Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto. Currently, Dr. Leighton is pursuing a Master’s degree that concentrates on Clinical Trials. Her research interests encompass patient outcomes and system efficiencies in total joint arthroplasty, and she is dedicated to developing care pathways to implement practices such as outpatient total joint arthroplasty and the direct anterior hip approach for Nova Scotians.
