Biography

Dr. Jennifer Luebke is the Waterhouse Professor and Chair at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology. She holds a PhD from Boston University and a BS from Randolph–Macon College. Her research primarily focuses on the functional properties of neurons in the mammalian prefrontal cortex (PFC). Dr. Luebke aims to understand the signaling properties of neurons in aging monkeys and transgenic mice by examining their repetitive action potential firing patterns and synaptic response characteristics using whole-cell patch-clamp recordings. Through computational modeling, she collaborates with biomathematicians to study PFC pyramidal cells using data derived from her empirical research. As a mentor, she plays a significant role in training graduate students within Boston University's Graduate Medical Sciences program.
