Biography

Jennifer Lynes is an Associate Professor in the School of Environment, Enterprise Development at the University of Waterloo. Her research centers on sustainability marketing, particularly how organizations communicate sustainability information. She holds an advisory position with the Privy Council’s Program for Applied Research on Climate Action and also serves as a sustainability consultant for Tennis Canada. With over a decade of leadership in sustainability research and teaching, Lynes has actively contributed to community initiatives, including a ten-year tenure as Chair and board member of REEP Green Solutions, and six years as director of Canada's leading program in Environmental Business. Additionally, she co-directed Canada’s undergraduate program in Sustainability & Financial Management. Lynes was a founding member of the Sustainable Concerts Working Group, collaborating with the live music industry, including projects with musician Jack Johnson at Guelph’s Hillside Festival. Her research spans various sectors, such as electric vehicles, energy, air travel, and fashion, focusing on developing strategies to meet sustainability goals by 2030 for Tennis Canada. Her work has been featured in publications like Nature Energy and Globe Mail, and she teaches courses on sustainability and financial management, marketing sustainability, and behavior change.
