Biography

Jennifer Macalady is a Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Penn State University, where she also serves as the Director of the Ecology Institute. Her research interests are centered on geomicrobiology, biogeochemistry, and astrobiology. She leads a research group that studies sulfur cycling and microbial ecology in subsurface environments, research that is critical for understanding early Earth conditions and possibly other planets.
