Biography

Jennifer received her PhD in Women's Studies from Emory University and currently holds academic appointments as an Associate Professor in the Department of English and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Purdue University. She has been recognized with several awards for her teaching excellence, including the 2015-2016 Exceptional Early Career Teaching Award Nomination and the 2014-2015 Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award. Additionally, she received the 2013-2014 Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award from the Department of English and participated in the National Women's Studies Association Women of Color Leadership Project in 2013-2014. Jennifer's research includes the publication "In Search of Heidi Durrow: Black Woman’s Literary Tradition: Reading Girl Fell From the Sky" in Forum for World Literature Studies. Her scholarly contributions also feature biographical entries in the African American National Biography. Jennifer is a member of several professional organizations, including the National Women’s Studies Association and the Modern Language Association.
