Biography

Jennifer McCaney holds dual appointment at UCLA Anderson School of Management and the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care. She is the co-executive director of UCLA Biodesign, an interdisciplinary initiative promoting leadership and entrepreneurship in health care technology. Specializing in early-stage company formation and technology development, McCaney brings extensive experience from her role as an entrepreneur and advisor in the health tech sector. Her interests lie in the disruption of health care through digital health, medical devices, and care delivery transformation. As the founding director of MedTech Innovator Accelerator, she has worked with numerous startup companies in health tech, collaborating with leading manufacturers such as Johnson & Johnson and Amgen. McCaney is also the associate director of the UCLA Clinical Translational Science Institute, engaging in research partnerships to support biomedical innovations addressing health needs in diverse communities. She co-leads UCLA Biodesign, a program dedicated to training medical professionals in business and innovation. McCaney is actively involved in catalyzing the development of a regional ecosystem for medical technology in Southern California. She is a Fulbright Scholar and has earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, along with multiple degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
