Biography

Jennifer Melvin is a Guest Teacher at the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She holds an MA in Theory and Practice of Human Rights from Essex and a PhD in Sociology from the School of Advanced Study, University of London. Melvin has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and authored the book 'Reconciling Rwanda: Unity, Nationality, State Control.' Her recent work explores UK-African diasporic relationships and the implications of UK aid and trade policies post-Brexit. Previously, she has taught on topics related to advocacy, activism, and human rights research, and she has forthcoming publications on teaching challenges in human rights.
