Professor Murphy received her B.S. degree in Chemistry (cum laude) from Santa Clara University, Northern California. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2011 from UCLA, working under the direction of Michael E. Jung in natural product total synthesis. Following her graduation, she transitioned to the David Geffen School of Medicine where she was a Scholar in Oncologic Molecular Imaging (SOMI) postdoctoral fellow at the Ahmanson Translational Imaging Division at UCLA. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and is a member of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA. Additionally, she has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Society for Radiopharmaceutical Sciences (ISRS) and is a Scientific Advisory Board Member of the Carbon Fluorine Radio Chemistry (CAFACHEM) Program. In 2019, she was honored with the "Ones to Watch: Early Career Professionals Making a Difference" award by the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). Her research focuses on addressing current limitations in radiochemistry, developing routine, robust 18F-fluorination approaches with broad clinical utility, and enhancing molecular diagnostic tools to advance therapeutic developments.
