Biography

Jennifer Payne is the Linklaters Professor of Corporate Finance Law and the Warden of Merton College, Oxford. She writes widely in the fields of company law, corporate finance law, financial regulation, and corporate insolvency. Her recent publications include 'Corporate Finance Law: Principles and Policy' (Hart Publishing, 3rd edn 2020, co-authored with Louise Gullifer), 'Intermediation' (Hart Publishing, 2019, also with Louise Gullifer), and 'Principles of Financial Regulation' (Oxford University Press, 2016, co-authored with John Armour, Dan Awrey, Paul Davies, Luca Enriques, Jeff Gordon, and Colin Mayer). She is also a contributor to 'Palmer's Company Law', the founder editor of the 'Journal of Corporate Law Studies', and the Review Articles editor for the 'Oxford Journal of Legal Studies'. Jennifer has served as a visiting professor at several leading institutions worldwide, including Melbourne Law School, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Auckland. In 2016, she was elected to membership of the International Insolvency Institute and has been involved with the European Security Markets Authority (ESMA) as a member of the Securities Markets Stakeholders Group (2016-18) and the Consultative Working Group for ESMA's Corporate Finance Standing Committee (2015-17). Currently, she is a member of the Expert Advisory Panels for Law Commission projects on Intermediated Securities and Digital Assets.
