Biography

Jennifer E. Phillips-Cremins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She has a comprehensive academic background, having earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University in 1999 and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007. Prior to her faculty position, she completed postdoctoral research in collaborative laboratories, including those of Job Dekker at the University of Massachusetts and Victor Corces at Emory University, from 2008 to 2013. Her research expertise lies in the investigation of three-dimensional genome organization and its implications for cellular function. The Cremins lab employs advanced chromosome conformation capture technologies and high-throughput sequencing to develop high-resolution 3-D genome architecture maps. Currently, her work focuses on the higher-order chromatin organization during the differentiation of embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells, as well as its link to neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative diseases. Her research aims to engineer chromatin structures to influence cellular phenotypes for applications in regenerative medicine and treatments for neurodegenerative conditions.
