Jennifer S. Schwartz, MD, MBOE, FACS, is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Schwartz earned her B.S. from Vanderbilt University and her M.D. from SUNY Upstate Medical University. She completed her general surgical residency and a minimally invasive surgical fellowship at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. As faculty at Ohio State University, Dr. Schwartz played a crucial role in developing one of the busiest academic robotic general surgery programs in the nation. She also earned a Master’s in Business Operational Excellence from Ohio State University, focusing on operational efficiency. After being recruited to Johns Hopkins Hospital, she developed a busy clinical practice at Howard County General Hospital and has been an active lecturer at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Notably, Dr. Schwartz was a finalist for the Halsted faculty teaching award in the Johns Hopkins Department of Surgery. Her clinical interests are in hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, and the medical and surgical management of reflux and obesity. Her research interests encompass robotic surgery and medical student and resident education. Dr. Schwartz is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of professional societies including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
