Professor Dr. Jennifer Skattebol

Biography

Jennifer Skattebol explores issues of economic inequality experienced by children and families. She is primarily a qualitative and mixed-method researcher grounded in the disciplines of education, sociology, and social policy. Her methodological expertise lies in designing research focused on children, young people, and families in contexts of disadvantage. Skattebol has worked extensively with both government and non-government bodies on issues related to early years education and child youth poverty, aiming to create services that meet the needs of young Australians and their families. Current research projects include equitable access to early childhood education and care, and investigations into the life courses of young people using multiple service systems. Her research interests also cover children and young people's poverty experiences, education in underserved communities, and child/youth-centered methodologies.
