Biography

Jennifer Yee is a Professor at the University of Oxford specializing in French literature, particularly focusing on the nineteenth century. Her research interests encompass notable authors such as Balzac, Flaubert, Baudelaire, Zola, and Proust, examining themes of colonialism, exotic writing, and the intersections of literature and visual arts. Yee has a keen interest in postcolonial studies and francophone literature. She teaches French language and literature at the graduate level, particularly areas related to nineteenth-century prose and women travelers in literature. Yee has published extensively, including her notable works 'The Colonial Comedy: Imperialism French Realist Novel' and 'Exotic Subversions Nineteenth-Century French Fiction'.
