Biography

Jenny Björklund is a Professor of Gender Studies and the Director of the Centre for Gender Research at Uppsala University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Uppsala University in 2004. Her research interests include reproductive decision-making, climate change, and environmental issues as they relate to family-building. Björklund has taught courses in Gender Studies, Comparative Literature, and Scandinavian Studies at various universities in Sweden and the United States, including Uppsala University and UCLA. She is a work package leader in the MotherNet project, which focuses on contemporary European motherhood and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research innovation programme. She was also the senior editor of the Nordic LGBTQ studies journal, Lambda Nordica, from 2012 to 2020. Her research investigates the intersections of motherhood and climate change, exploring how societal norms and media influence reproductive decision-making. Björklund has authored and edited several publications including a notable book on non-motherhood.
