Biography

Jenny Bryan is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, specializing in Classical Philosophy, Classics, Ancient History, and Egyptology. She joined the University in 2016 after six years at the Department of Greek and Latin at UCL. Prior to that, she was a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge. Her research primarily focuses on Platonic Early Greek philosophy, with published works on Hellenistic and Roman philosophy, and she is particularly interested in Platonic Presocratic epistemology. Bryan is currently completing a monograph on Empedocles' epistemology and works on projects related to Parmenides, Heraclitus, as well as the interests of Iris Murdoch in Plato and Homer. She has supervised PhD theses on topics such as Plato's Timaeus, Plato's understanding of 'philosophy', and rhetoric in Plato's works.
