Biography

Jenny Driscoll brings a children’s rights-based approach to child protection, having a background as a barrister specializing in care proceedings. Her commitment to research is fueled by the desire to promote the well-being and rights of children and young people. Jenny has particular expertise in collaborative multi-agency work for the protection of children in England and development contexts, focusing on young people's experiences in state care and ethical research practices. Recent research projects include studying the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on multi-agency child safeguarding practices and investigating child-rights-based child protection programming in rural Uganda. Currently, she leads a two-year project funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research to evaluate multi-agency child safeguarding arrangements in England and collaborates on a youth-focused climate change litigation project. As a Co-Editor of the Child Abuse Review, Jenny contributes to advancing the field of child protection and rights advocacy. In her teaching role, she supervises students in the MA International Child Rights and Development and BA Social Sciences programs, focusing on modules related to children and families, global childhoods, and child protection. Her work includes keynote speeches and presentations at various professional events, emphasizing her leadership and influence in the area of children's rights and safeguarding.
