Jenny Godley is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. With extensive training in demography and social network analysis, she has conducted two decades of quantitative research on the social determinants of health. Her work examines the mechanisms by which intersecting axes of social inequality, including social class, sex, gender, race, ethnicity, and immigration status, influence health behaviors, outcomes, and healthcare utilization. Currently, she is involved in large community-based health service delivery research projects aimed at increasing access to Hepatitis C testing and treatment for historically underserved populations in Alberta, and improving the delivery of spirometry services to patients in rural and remote areas of British Columbia. Jenny has published widely, utilizing diverse data types such as population-level surveys, census data from Statistics Canada, and administrative data from Alberta Health Services. In addition to her primary research, she employs social network analysis to understand the evolution of collaborative research practices among teams. She has a strong interest in research ethics within the social sciences and has served as Chair of the Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board for the past five years, providing specialized training in social science research ethics both locally and internationally, including collaboration with Academics Without Borders in Africa.
