Biography

Jenny Leith studied for her undergraduate degree in Russian and Italian at Jesus College, Cambridge, before transitioning into the political sphere as a parliamentary researcher in social policy. Her career eventually led her to explore theology, deeply contemplating the relationship between Christian faith and participation in political life. She began her graduate studies at King’s College London and completed her PhD in political theology at Durham University. Her research culminated in the monograph 'Political Formation: Formed in Spirit, Church and World' published by SCM Press in 2023. Following a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Roehampton, she served as the Director of Studies at the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide. Since September 2022, she has been a Lecturer in Christian Ethics at Westcott House, having previously taught at Lindisfarne College of Theology, the College of the Resurrection (Mirfield), King’s College London, and Sarum College. Her research interests encompass negative theology, political theology, ecclesiology, and the formation of individual and institutional identities. Recently, she has been reflecting on the theological resources that can address contemporary political ills, such as polarization and exclusion in civic life.
