Biography

Jenny Mander researches and teaches eighteenth-century French thought and literature, focusing on modern critical theory, particularly on theories of reading and narratology. She is the author of 'Circles of Learning: A Study of Person Narrative in the Early Eighteenth-Century French Novel' (Studies on Voltaire, 1999). Currently, she is working on an edition of 'Histoire des deux Indes', which explores themes related to eighteenth-century colonialism. Additionally, she co-organized the international conference on Raynal's 'Histoire philosophique des deux Indes', held at Newnham College from July 1-3, 2010. Professor Mander welcomes inquiries from potential MPhil and PhD students whose research interests align with her expertise.
