Biography

Jenny Morgan, a member of the Gitxsan Nation and the Lax Gibuu (Wolf clan), joined the University of Victoria School of Social Work in 2021. She has extensive research and practice experience focused on anti-Indigenous racism and Indigenous health, having worked in community employment health services and in leadership roles with housing organizations and health authorities. Her most recent position was as the inaugural Director of Indigenous Health at BC Women's Children's Hospital. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of British Columbia (2003), a Master of Social Work with Indigenous Specialization from the University of Victoria (2014), and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Western Ontario (2019). Her research and teaching interests include addressing anti-Indigenous specific racism and the evaluation of Indigenous health initiatives. Jenny is actively involved in various councils and leadership circles aimed at promoting Indigenous well-being and advocacy within the health sector.
