Dr. Jenny Persson

Biography

Jenny Persson focuses her research on cancer metastasis and the development of targeted drugs. Her long-term research goal is to study multiple cellular pathways in cancer cells, with a particular interest in the microenvironment and its role in cancer progression and treatment resistance. She aims to develop small molecule inhibitors for targeted therapy and personalized medicine, specifically for treating metastatic prostate, breast, colon, lung, and pancreatic cancers that share common K-RAS mutations. Her expertise encompasses molecular genetics, stem cell biology, immunology, and signaling pathways in cancer biology. Additionally, she has been involved in pioneering drug candidates targeting cancer-initiating cells. Throughout her career, she has held significant academic positions, including as the Head of the Experimental Cancer Research Section at Lund University and as an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham. Persson has established extensive networks and partnerships for interdisciplinary research at both national and international levels, leading numerous large-scale EU framework projects and serving on various committees, including those related to cancer research funding. Her work has resulted in publications in prestigious journals, contributing immensely to the understanding of cancer biology and treatment strategies.
