Dr. Jenny Schrödl

Biography

Jenny Schrödl is a junior professor of theatre studies at the Free University of Berlin, with a focus on contemporary theatre and performance art. She has been a member of the editorial team for feminist studies since 2020 and led the Young Researchers Group 'Art Couples' between 2015 and 2018. Additionally, she initiated and has led the 'Gender' working group of the Society for Theatre Studies since 2014. Her academic journey includes a doctorate obtained in 2010, with a dissertation exploring vocal intensities and aesthetic experiences in postdramatic theatre, which was awarded 'summa cum laude'. Her research interests encompass performance theory, feminist art, the politics of free theatre, and gender studies. She serves as an Erasmus+ coordinator for theatre and dance studies and has coordinated several gender-oriented research initiatives. Throughout her career, she has published extensively, exploring themes such as gender and queerness in performance, aesthetics, and the cultural dynamics of voice. Schrödl's teaching portfolio covers a range of topics, including queer performance and feminist art, reflecting her commitment to critical examination of contemporary artistic practices.
