Dr. Jenny Wiik

Biography

Jenny Wiik is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg in the Department of Journalism, Media Communication. Her research interests primarily focus on the journalism profession and its challenges in the context of technological, political, and economic changes. She completed her PhD in 2010 with a thesis titled "Journalism Transition." Wiik has worked on various research projects, including examining the professional identity of journalists and the impact of management on news companies. She has also taught media and journalism, serving as the Programme Coordinator for the Master's Programme in Investigative Journalism. Her teaching and research integrate the evolving landscape of journalism in the digital age, including artificial intelligence's role in news media. Wiik has published multiple papers and contributed to several significant research areas related to journalism, including the transformation of journalistic practices in different contexts and the professionalization of the field. Her work is influential in understanding the current state and future of journalism education and practice.
