Biography

Jenny Huanjiao Zhou holds an M.D. and Ph.D. from Sun Yat-sen University, specializing in ophthalmology from the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center. She completed her post-doctoral training in vascular biology at the Department of Pathology, Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Zhou's research focuses on cardiovascular retinal diseases, with particular emphasis on endothelial signaling biology and vascular malformation remodeling. Her work includes the establishment of an inducible endothelial-specific CCM3 mouse model to study human cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM) and the mechanisms affecting angiogenesis and vasculogenesis. Additionally, she investigates mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of major blinding retinal diseases. Dr. Zhou actively collaborates with peers and is a member of several professional organizations including NAVBO, AHA, and ARVO. Her contributions to the field have earned her numerous awards, including the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship Award and the Angioma Alliance Full Trainee Travel Award.
