Dr. Jenq-Neng Hwang received BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1981 and 1983, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in 1989. Dr. Hwang joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle in the summer of 1989 and was promoted to Full Professor in 1999. His research focuses on machine learning, multimedia signal processing, computer vision, and multimedia system integration. Dr. Hwang has authored over 450 journal and conference papers and has been recognized with various awards, including the IEEE Signal Processing Society's Journal Paper Award in 1995. He is also active in industry collaborations particularly concerning artificial intelligence and machine learning, strengthening ties across academia and industry.
