Dr. Jens Andersen

Biography

Jens Peter Andersen is a Professor Emeritus at Aarhus University, specializing in physiology and biomedicine. He has significantly contributed to the understanding of transport mechanisms, ion pumps, and lipid pumps, particularly the P-type ATPases like Ca-ATPase and Na,K-ATPase. His expertise encompasses molecular physiology and biochemistry, cell membranes, and the genetic basis of disorders caused by protein mutations. Over his career, he has published more than 150 articles in international journals, achieving an H-index of 50, and has been an invited speaker at over 60 international conferences. He has supervised 15 Ph.D. projects and has had visiting professorships, including one at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on understanding the mechanistic roles of amino acid residues in transport processes, which can provide insights into hereditary diseases.
