Biography

Jens Velde Andersen is a Visiting Researcher at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Translational Clinical Pharmacology. He joined the Neuro Metabolism group in 2014 as a scholarship student in a PhD program. His research focuses on elucidating molecular and cellular changes in brain metabolism associated with the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Jens is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaborative projects that investigate the relationship between brain energy metabolism and neurodegenerative diseases, including neurotransmitter recycling metabolism and the role of branched-chain amino acids. Jens collaborates within the Wellendorph lab to study the molecular pathology linked to faulty GABA metabolism in succinate semialdehyde dehydrogenase (SSADH) deficiency. Over the past five years, he has engaged in various high-level research collaborations across different continents, including North America, Australia, and Europe.
