Dr. Jens Bruun

Biography

Jens Meldgaard Bruun is a Clinical Professor at Aarhus University and a consultant at the Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, where he also serves as the Medical Director of the National Center for Obesity. With over 25 years of experience, he's committed to understanding and addressing the biological and clinical mechanisms underlying severe obesity and related diseases. His research focuses on how inflammatory and immunological processes in adipose tissue affect insulin metabolic regulation, nutrition, and physical activity, ultimately influencing inflammation and metabolic health. In addition to his research, he actively communicates about obesity, leading initiatives that challenge stigma and enhance understanding of the complexities surrounding obesity and diabetes for patients, professionals, and policymakers alike. He has contributed to the development of national guidelines and health strategies for the prevention and treatment of obesity-related diseases, emphasizing collaboration across various disciplines and sectors.
