Biography

Jens Prüfer is the Director of the Tilburg Law Economics Center (TILEC) and a Professor of Economics at Tilburg University. His academic career includes positions at the University of East Anglia and is also Deputy Director at the Centre for Competition Policy. His research specializes in institutional organizational questions leveraging economic methodology across a wide array of disciplines, including law, management, political science, history, religious studies, and computer science. As a Mercator Fellow at the University of Passau, he focuses on “Digital Platform Ecosystems” and leads an EU Horizon project investigating the role of artificial intelligence in regulatory frameworks, particularly analyzing AI in autocratic countries. His teaching covers topics such as digital economics, microeconomics, and career development in economics, among others. Evaluating the impact of data and digital transformation on markets and societies is a recurrent theme in his work, which also encompasses areas like organizational economics, law and economics, and the political economy of media.
