Dr. Jeong Hyun Oh

Biography

Jeong Hyun Oh is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Michigan. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2023. His research interests focus on health wealth inequality in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly the impact of key demographic events. Current work involves examining labor market stratification in the aftermath of the Education for All (EFA) movement, exploring how inequality is regulated within local communities. Additionally, he is broadly interested in survey methodology, with an emphasis on measuring women’s employment and the subjective dimensions of inequality, as well as the challenges of capturing social mobility in informal economies.
