Biography

Jeremy Brown has lived in Iowa City for eighteen years, after which he pursued his interest in Chinese and Japanese studies at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. He conducted language training at Harbin Institute of Technology and Tsinghua University, and completed his PhD at the University of California, San Diego in 2008. From 2014 to 2021, he served as an editor for the Cambridge Studies in History of the People's Republic of China book series. His academic endeavors include extensive research on Modern China, particularly in social and cultural contexts. Brown has authored and edited numerous publications, including works on Maoist China, and is currently involved in graduate supervision in Asian History and Oral History.
