Biography

Jeremy Lehnen is an Associate Teaching Professor at Brown University, where he also serves as the Director of the Language Studies program and the Brazil Initiative at the Watson Institute. He is the executive editor of the Journal of Lusophone Studies and the vice-president of the American Portuguese Studies Association. Lehnen has previously held positions as interim director of the Gender and Sexuality Studies program and interim associate director of the Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women. He completed his PhD in Latin American Studies at the University of New Mexico and has held academic positions at prominent institutions, including the University of New Mexico, Macalester College, and the University of Colorado at Boulder. His forthcoming book, 'Neo-Authoritarian Masculinity in Brazilian Crime Film,' is set to be published by the University Press of Florida in December 2021. His scholarly work addresses topics in gender and sexuality, with a specific focus on masculinity in contemporary Latin American cinema, literature, and electronic cultural production.
