Dr. Jeri Antilla

Biography

Jeri Antilla is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Undergraduate Studies Program at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. With a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MSN from Walden University, she holds expertise in various aspects of maternal health. Her research interests focus on perinatal loss, maternal infant mortality, reproductive health inequities, and the impact of systemic racism on health disparities. Antilla’s extensive nursing career has been dedicated to supporting individuals through pregnancy and childbirth, as well as caring for newborns. She has concentrated on understanding the health outcomes related to marginalized birthing individuals, particularly African American women, exploring the significant stressors they face during perinatal loss and subsequent pregnancies. In her teaching role, Antilla combines didactic and clinical education for undergraduate nursing students, emphasizing advocacy and the importance of addressing healthcare disparities. She is also actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing, and the Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Alliance, contributing to her passion for social justice in healthcare.
