Jeroen Kalkman studied physics at the Free University Amsterdam and holds a PhD degree in Physics from Utrecht University. His PhD research was conducted at the FOM Institute of Atomic and Molecular Physics in the Photonic Materials group, focusing on 'Controlled spontaneous emission in erbium-doped microphotonic materials.'
