Biography

Professor Lamb studied Theoretical Physics at the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands and obtained his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1994. From 1995 to 1999, he worked at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Warwick as an EU HCM Research Fellow and EPSRC research associate lecturer. In 1999, he joined Imperial College London, becoming Professor of Applied Mathematics in 2005. During this period, he held an NWO Talent Research Fellowship at the University of Houston in 1998 and an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship at Imperial College London from 2001 to 2006. Professor Lamb has held visiting positions at several institutions, including IMPA in Rio de Janeiro, UNICAMP in Campinas, MSRI in Berkeley, CRM in Montreal, RIMS in Kyoto, and IRCN in Tokyo. He is a founding member of the Dynamical Systems research group DynamIC within the Department of Mathematics, established with Stefano Luzzatto in 2000.
