Biography

Jerónimo Rilla is a postdoctoral researcher at University College London, working under the framework of the British Academy International Fellowship. His research primarily focuses on Thomas Hobbes, examining early modern concepts of the state and the rhetorical representations of personification. Before joining UCL, Jerónimo was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre Raymond Aron at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and has also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at CONICET, the National Research Council of Argentina. Currently, he is developing a book project that explores the intellectual history of state power as depicted through early modern personifications, with a specific emphasis on Europe and South America. His notable publications include works in major journals such as 'Global Intellectual History' and 'Intellectual History Review.' Apart from his academic pursuits, Jerónimo has engaged with the public through opinion pieces in prominent Argentine newspapers and has participated in national radio discussions about political representation. Additionally, he has a background in political communication, having served as a speechwriter for the Communications Office of the Chief Cabinet Ministers in Argentina from 2020 to 2022.
