Biography

Jerry Long is an Associate Professor and Co-Director at the PACE Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry, known for his extensive contributions to dentistry at local, state, and national levels. After graduating from the University of Texas Dental Branch in 1966, he began his career in the U.S. Air Force and later established a successful dental practice in the Texas Medical Center until his retirement in 2012. Following retirement, he has volunteered as a consultant at the PACE Center, guiding students and recent graduates in their career development and practice transition. He also serves as a part-time clinical associate professor in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health and as the course director for Practice Management I. Long's professional accolades include being named UTSD Alumnus of the Year, receiving the Texas Dental Association Gold Medal for Distinguished Service, and being recognized as the 1993 Texas Dentist of the Year by the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. He has held leadership roles in the Greater Houston Dental Society and served on the Board of Trustees for the American Dental Association. He has been honored with fellowships from the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Long resides in Missouri City, Texas, with his wife Bettie and they have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
