Biography

Jerry H. Sokolowski holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Sciences from the Technical University of Silesia, Poland, and has extensive professional experience in both industry and academia. He began his career as a Research/Process Engineer at the National Institute of Iron Metallurgy and later served as an Assistant Professor and Manager of the Foundry Institute at the Technical University of Gliwice, Poland. After moving to Canada in 1981, he worked at McMaster University as a Research Technologist, followed by a position as R&D Process Engineer at CAE Diecast Ltd., and served as Research Scientist Supervisor at Alcan International. In 1993, he joined the University of Windsor as a Professor specializing in Mechanical, Automotive & Materials Engineering. Sokolowski leads the Light Metals Casting Technology (LMCT) Research Group, focusing on innovative metal casting processes and technologies for aluminum and magnesium components. He has published approximately 80 scientific papers, been granted 5 patents, and has received substantial funding for his research, including support from the AUTO21 Network. His work includes collaborations with major automotive companies and contributions to the development of new materials and processes in advanced characterization.
