Dr. Jesper Andersen

Biography

Jesper Levring Andersen holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, obtained in 1996. He began his career as a research assistant in 1998 and achieved his PhD degree in 2005. Currently, he serves as an associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, where he combines academic responsibilities with administrative duties. His primary consultancy work supports the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food, particularly in areas related to fisheries management and bioeconomic modeling. He actively participates in research projects focused on productivity and efficiency analysis of fishing vessels. Recently, his research has concentrated on the economic impacts of Brexit on Danish fishermen and the repercussions of quota concentration within Danish fisheries. Academically, he has previously taught a Master course in Natural Resource Economics and has engaged in teaching within higher education. With substantial involvement in EU and nationally funded research initiatives, Andersen is well-versed in public sector consultancy.
