Dr. Jesper Brahm

Biography

Jesper Brahm is an Associate Professor in the Morphogenesis Differentiation Program at the University of Copenhagen. His research primarily focuses on the transport of electrolytes and nonelectrolytes across cell membranes, with a particular emphasis on erythrocyte membranes. Brahm's team has developed innovative techniques, including the continuous flow tube method, which allows for the rapid determination of transport kinetics in the millisecond range for various solutes, such as chloride, urea, glucose, and water. This groundbreaking research has advanced the understanding of the transport processes across red blood cell membranes. Brahm holds multiple degrees from the University of Copenhagen, including a licentiate degree (Ph.D.) and a doctoral degree in medical sciences. His extensive professional experience includes positions as a Resident and Visitator in various medical institutions, as well as a long-standing academic career at the University of Copenhagen, where he has been involved in research and teaching for over four decades.
