Dr. Jesper Christensen

Biography

Jesper Heile Christensen is a Senior Researcher at Aarhus University’s Department of Environmental Science, specializing in Atmospheric Emissions and Modelling. He has been involved in atmospheric modelling, particularly focusing on the development of chemical atmospheric transport models and weather forecast models for air quality assessment. His research addresses long-range transport modelling of air pollution, with a focus on Arctic regions, and he has contributed to the advancement of local and regional scale pollution forecasting efforts. He developed the Danish Eulerian Hemispheric Model (DEHM), which plays a crucial role in international Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program (AMAP) activities. His work also includes the development of the Integrated Air Pollution Forecasting Scenario Management System (THOR) which integrates meteorological and air pollution models. Over the years, he has managed various projects aimed at improving air quality and understanding the emissions from shipping activities, particularly in the Nordic and Arctic areas. He has contributed to numerous publications and projects, showcasing his commitment to advancing research in environmental science.
