Biography

Jesper Glückstad is a Full Professor and Head of the SDU Centre for Photonics Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark, where he has been instrumental in the field of programmable phase optics. He established this field in Denmark and has contributed significantly through his extensive research and publication record. Glückstad received his Doctor of Science (DSc) degree from the Technical University of Denmark in 2004 for his dissertation, 'The Generalised Phase Contrast method,' and has authored over 300 journal articles and conference papers. His work has appeared in prestigious journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Methods, and Nature Photonics. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Danish Optical Society Award in 2000 and was named Scientist of the Year by the Ib Henriksen’s Foundation in 2005. Furthermore, Glückstad was elected as a Fellow of both the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), and served on the SPIE Fellows committee from 2012 to 2014. He has been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences and co-founded the start-up OptoRobotix, contributing to technology transfer and commercialization of photonics innovations.
