Professor Dr. Jesper Svendsen

Biography

Jesper Hastrup Svendsen is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen, with a specialization in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Copenhagen in 1983 and received his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 1994. Serving as a consultant at the Heart Center Copenhagen University Hospital – Rigshospitalet, he is board-certified in General Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. His research focuses predominantly on cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, ion channel diseases, and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. Dr. Svendsen has expertise in both invasive treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and the pharmacological management of such conditions. He actively participates in numerous research projects supported by prestigious funding, including the European Union Horizon 2020 program. His significant contributions to medical education include serving on the editorial board of Medicinsk Kompendium. Dr. Svendsen is extensively involved in clinical practice, focusing on the care of patients with cardiac arrhythmia diseases and the management of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices.
