Biography

Jessamy Kelly is a lecturer and practicing glass artist based in Edinburgh, serving as the Head of Design at Edinburgh College of Art. Her role includes managing both staff and students within the School of Design, as well as overseeing the operational and strategic aspects of the School within ECA. She studied Glass Ceramics at the University of Sunderland, completing her Master's in Glass at Edinburgh College of Art in 2002, and obtained a practice-based PhD from the University of Sunderland in 2009. She is the vice chair of the RAFT Research Group and a trustee of the Scottish Stained Glass Trust. Her teaching focuses on Business Craft Design and Objects of Desire, contributing to the MA Craft Programme. Jessamy delivers lectures and workshops that contextualize contemporary craft and specializes in glass blowing, kiln forming, and glass casting. Her research interests include materiality, intersections of materials, digital technologies, craft processes, and the qualities of glass as a medium. She is actively involved in co-curating exhibitions and events, with work exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. Currently, she is looking to supervise PhD students interested in contemporary glass, ceramics, and craft-related fields.
