Biography

Jesse B. Mez, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He specializes in dementia research, focusing on Alzheimer’s disease and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). His research investigates the genetic, neuropathological, epidemiological, and clinical aspects of these conditions. Mez is also the Associate Director of the BU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and co-director of the Clinical Research BU CTE Center, where he leads research initiatives to understand the implications of traumatic brain injury and repeated head impacts on cognitive health. He has contributed to the Framingham Heart Study Brain Aging Program and has authored over 150 research articles. Mez has received extensive training in neurology and neuroepidemiology from prestigious institutions, completing fellowships and contributing to numerous NIH-funded studies. He is recognized internationally as an expert in CTE, actively participating in lectures and research collaboration across the globe. His ongoing projects seek to uncover the relationships among genetic and environmental factors impacting dementia risk, with particular attention to the clinicopathologic correlations needed for accurate diagnoses throughout patients' lives.
